Final exam
Fahrenheit 451
Mildred and Clarisse have very few things in common but what they do have in common is that they are both women. They both have some sort of relationship with Montag. They both have a few obsessive habits about one thing or another.
Mildred is more like the old fashion woman, She stays in home and lives off of Montag. She wants to be like everyone else by watching television and not thinking about anyone but herself. Mildred doesn't understand Montag, and why he wants to change. She also seems as if she hates her life but hides her emotions.
Clarisse is more of the modern woman. She reads books and thinks outside of what everyone else does and doesn't care what people think. Clarisse and Montag understand each other. She speaks her mind and cares more about other things then herself.
These differences and similarities help to develop the theme because they show how people can become if they try to fit in too much or how they would be treated if they were different. It also shows how women are treated in the world, they are thought to play a part and if they choose not to they become an outsider who are not even accepted among other women.
